1:00-1:10 – Introductions; Welcome Arletha Murray
1:10-2:30 – SDDTAC and Strategic Planning Update
- Community Input (45 min) – see Community Input Subcommittee slides
What we’ve heard so far from Shape Up SF partners:
- Prioritize water Rx as water is readily accessible and viable alternative to SSBs
- Deprioritize “Data”, at least some recommendations such as:
- paying CHIS for oversampling (potentially costly and not certain they could well capture data from residents who are limited English proficient);
- hiring an evaluator (from my experience, not a good use of money or time; better to require evaluation standards/ plans as part of the proposal process for orgs applying for funding)
- Deprioritize “Urban Agriculture” – not sure how popular this is with lower-income communities
- Early Childhood Education is missing
- Leverage funds to support workforce development startup costs and capital improvements that connect food access to healthy retail, such as:
- Produce distribution model: refrigerated trucks and training etc. for hyper delivery model connecting local producers to retailers
- Food processing hub: space and equipment for cooking facilities that could then sell food at lower costs to both healthy retailers and other food security related programs
- Urban Ag: roof top gardens and other utilized spaces for food production that then could be linked to the above comments
